Home & The Death of Tintagiles by 19th century Belgian, Maurice Maeterlinck

These two tragic masterpieces have been neglected over the years.  Maurice Maeterlinck, a
symbolist writer whose work has influenced modern drama, reveals the paralyzing effects from
fear of the unknown and the depths of human compassion.  In the presentation, we mirror his
poetic speech with the spectacle of masks, puppetry, gesture, and video to create symbols that
exteriorize characters’ moods and dilemmas.
Home
Aglovale, the old soldier and defender against evil; Bellangere, the matronly caretaker
and protector of good; and Ygraine, the sister and guardian of the little thumbkin,
Tintagiles, have gathered in a basement chamber of the Queen's Castle in hopes to hold
steadfast against the Handmaids of fate.
The Death of Tintagiles
tells the tale of a child faced with the
challenge of warding off an evil Queen
who has usurped all the lands. His only
shield is his two sisters and an old man
who vow to guard him from the Queen
and her three Handmaids of Death.

Omnipotent powers summon a
puppet-boy from beyond the sea to the
mountains of an island where he is to
meet his destiny in the Queen's castle
tower.
Experience two tragic masterpieces that have been neglected over the years. Maurice
Maeterlinck, a symbolist poet & playwright whose work has influenced modern drama, reveals
the paralyzing effects from fear of the unknown and the depth of human compassion.
This tragic story wields the axe of fate and the universal force that affects everything natural.
Storytelling the youth's fate through puppetry connects the powers of manipulation with the
strength of the human spirit.
